נוֹי, נוֹאm. (נָוָה, נָאָה) 1) beauty, ornament. Kel. XIV, 2 עשאן לנוי (ed. Dehr. לנוֹאי) he attached them for ornamentation. Yeb.39b הכונס את יבמתו … לשם נ׳ he who married his deceased brothers wife (v. יְבָמָה) for her beauty (not with the intention of perpetuating his brothers name). Y.Maasr.III, end, 51a לנוֹיָיהּ של חצר to embellish the court. Zeb.54b (play on בנוית, 1 Sam. 19:18) עוסקין בנו̇יו̇ שלוכ׳ engaged in the embellishment of the world (consulting about building the Temple). Koh. R. to II, 12 והוא נוֹאוֹ and this (the nose) is mans beauty; Gen. R. s. 12 נאה (corr. acc.). Pesik. R. s. 31 בעלת נ׳ a handsome woman; a. fr.Pl. נוֹיוֹת. Yalk.
